Immersive Design: Wasp Corner

The wasp corner relocates wasp nests from residential areas to protected green zones. My research indicated that there was no method of removing wasp nests without destroying them, so my goal was to lure them into building a nest on a mobile platform that can be transported. The model of this concept comprised of three stands with a plus shaped joint on its end and four “corners” made from tetrahedrons. The idea was to shut the corner once a colony nested, and transport it to a different stand held on a tree, in protected zones - I designed three different stands for this purpose; two to be placed in the "donor" residential areas to lure wasps, and one to be tied on trees in the protected green zones. Additionally, once the colony had moved out, the empty nest could also be brought back as a natural scarecrow, as wasps don’t reuse nests or build close to each other.
